What is the minimum efficiency requirement for a fan in a mechanical ventilation or air-conditioning system?

Fans, ductwork and duct components that form part of an air-conditioning system or mechanical ventilation system must comply with NCC section J requirements. To determine the required static or total efficiency for a fan in your system, follow these steps:

2. Enter the installation type, note A, B, C or D diagrams shown below

• Fan efficiency can be lower than calculated figure below, if system can achieve a fan motor input power per unit of flowrate lower than the fan motor input power per unit of flowrate when applying all fans and duct system efficiency requirements under  NCC J6D5  together.
